Welcome to All Things Antarctic, the web site for intrepid
Antarctic adventurers, travelers, and dreamers. My name
is Marilyn J. Landis, and I am the author of two books about
Antarctica. I have traveled to Antarctica eleven times as a
visitor and shipboard lecturer to gather research material
for my books.
By creating this Web site, I want to share with you what I
have learned about this great white wilderness. Included
are details about the many historical sites and landmarks
found in each of the four Antarctic regions and subantarctic
islands. You will also discover sections about the history of
those who first explored the coastal areas and the interior,
descriptions of the unique wildlife, and explanations about
the formation and motion of the pervasive ice. I hope that as
you navigate All Things Antarctic, you too will feel the lure
of a continent of mesmerizing beauty and interest.
